A long hike along the beach at Deception Island allows us to get warmed up.....

While we are hiking, the Expedition staff has been digging a HOT TUB!!

All vanity aside, I just had to get in there! The water was uncomfortably hot....

....but it didn't take long to cool off quickly!! It was my shortest swim on record!

Male Elephant Seal on Hannah Point, Livingston Island

As male elephant seals get older, they develop a proboscis that resembles an elephant's trunk.

The while around this penguin rookery resembles snow, but it is actually feathers from the chicks molting

An "elephant seal wallow," as male seals lie in their poop while they molt. The one in the back is getting quite aggressive, and has just tried to crawl on top of another. It is getting VERY loud about now!

Their great big black eyes are adapted to the deep depths that they dive, often up to two hours underwater.

We go for a guided hike to Walker Bay...

....when one of the penguins decides to join us on the hike.
