Before the Metrocable was built, it took two hours to get from these sections of Medellin down to resources for jobs and education. Now, it takes less than 20 minutes, improving the lives of those living in the barrio.

I go to Parque Berrio to view some of Botero's famous sculptures, but have to wait under the subway overpass until the rain lets up. Good vantage point to admire the Palacio de la Cultura Raphael Uribe Uribe, the back and white building in the park.

Although most of his sculptures were of women, he did do a few men. Legend says people rub the shiny parts for luck. ;-)

This woman seemed PO'd at first that I had taken her photograph, but after she shoved her beautiful young daughter, Juliana (pronounced YOU-lehana,) in front of me to practice English for 20 minutes, she gave me a rose!
